Quality Control Welding Inspector (CWI)

 

Position Summary: 

  • Assist in managing the Quality Control and Assurance program for Project reporting administratively to Project Manager and functionally to Americas Quality Director. 

  • Verify project quality objectives are being met and that quality requirements are delivered as per contract referenced specifications and standards.

  • Assist in the quality induction and training program for all personnel involved in the performance of the works  

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the Quality Management Plan  

  • Be given authority by the Project Manager to act freely and independently and to stop the progress of the relevant part of the works when any non-conformance with the quality requirements of the contract is identified  

  • Ensure the promotion, awareness and compliance to Quality is maintained throughout project in accordance with CAM Management System.  

  • Effectively interprets contract quality requirements to establish inspection, testing and quality service activities for projects. 

  • Ensure CAM Document Control Compliance is maintained throughout project in accordance with Standards, Plans, Procedures 

  • Ensuring the promotion and awareness of Client referenced Quality Standards throughout the Project  

  • Communicate any non-conformance and defect that may impact safety assurance requirements for design, construction, commissioning, maintenance, or operation   

  • Monitor the project quality objectives, targets, KPI’s and related programs including status of quality NCR’s, reworks, and defects

  • Assist with the quality component of suppliers’ procurement processes. (Where required)

  • Monitor Surveillance Trends, NCRs, and other sources of deficiencies and subsequently investigate and initiate corrective & preventive actions.  

  • Ensure the approval of ITPs prior to implementation.

  • Attend and input quality issues into weekly internal project meetings, external client meeting, kick-off meetings and chair pre-inspection meetings prior to commencement of Sub Contractors works 

  • Assist in preparing weekly and monthly reports to Project Manager / Client / Quality Director   

  • Provide guidance on compliance strategies, relating to documentation in accordance with project specifications and referenced standards.  

  • Ensures the review and input into ITP’s., Construction Work Packs, to ensure correct quality criteria.  

  • Ensures the surveillance planning and scheduling activities are developed and implemented 

  • Ensure Lessons Learned Workshops are maintained, and Lessons filed progressively during Project. 

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Comply with CAM Code of Conduct  

  • Understand & demonstrate CAM values. 

  • Ensure CAM Management System requirements are followed. 

  • Ability to work in a Team environment. 

  • Physically fit, mobile, and able to perform required task 

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications including Excel and Word (additional MS Access experience is preferred) 

  • Proven communication skills to foster an environment of teamwork with common goals. 

  • Good written communication and reporting skills with proper use of grammar and spelling. 

  • Has the ability to receive and provide instruction with a positive manner 

  • Commitment to accuracy and completeness 

  • Is flexible to change, possess a high degree of integrity, and operates with a “can do attitude”. 

 

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector 

  • Relevant Inspection and or Trade qualification e.g., Electrical, Coating, Mechanical, Structural, Welding, Equipment and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT),  

  • Lead Auditor Certificate and or experience required. 

  • 4+ years minimum experience in similar role; of which 

  • 3+ years site-based experience in construction / engineering / fabrication environment 

  • Knowledge of Codes such as API, AWS, ASME, ANSI, ACI, NACE, IEEE, IBC, NEMA, NBIC, etc. 

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (required)  

  • Ability to read and comprehend WPS and weld Details. 

  • Knowledge and use of computers and software

  • High level of commitment to safety 

  • Previous experience with Lessons Learned workshops and Project Lessons involvement. 

  • Previous experience and or Involvement with Risk Management
