Job Title: Groundwater Monitoring Team Lead

Job Summary:
Groundwater Monitoring Team Lead will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner; will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety and security an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the task is unsafe or compromises security.  The Groundwater Monitoring Team Lead is the first line supervisor and is responsible for coordinating personnel, resources, and materials to ensure that project work tasks are completed expeditiously in a safe, high quality, and cost-effective manner. The Groundwater Monitoring Team Lead oversees daily operations and staffing needs, to meet the expectations of the Environmental Remediation Water Program customers and management.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
•    May assist with recruiting and interviewing
•    Trains new staff. 
•    Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
•    Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.  

Duties/Responsibilities:
•    Responsible for daily implementation of a large scale, site-wide groundwater monitoring project, waste/purge water management, and equipment maintenance.
•    Coordinates staffing and activities to ensure scheduling of work assignments, setting of priorities, and maintains close direction of team members.
•    Evaluates and verifies task completion through the review of completed work assignments.
•    Maintains project work site in compliance with applicable work documents for health, safety, fire and environmental codes and regulations; initiates required corrective actions.
•    Provides appropriate and proactive interaction with other departments to ensure that proper notifications by other departments of planned activities and support needs, are coordinated and that planned activities have no adverse impact to project schedule, scope, or budget.
•    Coordinates staff schedules to cover operational hours of the organization.
•    Coordinates procurement requests for supplies and equipment with appropriate staff and management.
•    Provides input into the development of long-range budget and planning information.
•    Resolves issues related to successful conduct of operations.
•    Verifies the implementation of, and adherence to required safety and quality programs by staff.
•    Interacts primarily with T2S staff and management, and coordinates with N3B Operations staff on the logistics of conducting fieldwork.
•    Other duties, as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities: 
•    Display expert level knowledge and ability to develop and apply highly advanced principles, concepts and techniques in project management involving groundwater monitoring and compliance, well maintenance, environmental services, remediation services, and/or ecological services.
•    Ability to perform critical strategic tasks skillfully and to interpret broad strategic requirements and develop and execute plans to satisfy them.
•    Ability to have significant impact on organizational success and productivity, with broad latitude for independent judgment.
•    Ability to communicate effectively.
•    Ability to train and mentor junior staff. 
•    Can be viewed as an expert within a specialty and as highly knowledgeable within the broad discipline, both internally and externally.
•    Possess an advanced level of communication, reasoning, problem solving and interpersonal skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job.
•    Ability to work in a team-oriented project environment.
•    Familiarity with the LANL site, access requirements, general employee requirements, and work environment preferred.

Education and Experience:
•    Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent, and 5 years of related experience; however, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the position’s duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable.  
•    The career level of the position will be determined by the years of relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities; after a candidate has been chosen.
