Shareholder Development - Intern - Operational Procurement Research Support Fellow (NESI)

Title:  Fellow – NESI Procurement – Operational Procurement Research Support

Location: New England Seafood International, UK (Grimsby)

Role Summary:

Research support (NESI’s Operational Procurement Manager) for two strategic procurement tenders between June and August 2025. The successful fellow would predominantly follow the negotiation journey. Between June and August, NESI will be at the early stages of the group’s laundry and agency tenders, which both offer very different challenges and opportunities. Laundry offers a very operational approach, whilst the agency tender will be market-based with significant analytical research and financial assessment.

Learning Outcomes:

• Negotiation – how to prepare, how to approach each one and how to execute
• Improved analytical skills
• Project management – learn how to build a CPA (critical path)
• Understanding of contract law (UK)
  • How to improve terms, what to look for and challenge in a contract

Both of the tenders will need the contracts awarding in September 2025 so it is likely that the successful fellow will see both new contracts awarded before they depart.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Performs other duties as assigned. 

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Able to both collaborate with a team and perform duties independently
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must be a Sealaska shareholder, descendant of a shareholder, or spouse of a shareholder
• Ability and willingness to travel internationally

• Commit to 8-week program timeline (2 weeks in Alaska, 6 weeks in the UK)
• Must have a valid passport

• Legally authorized to work in the United States

Education and Experience:

• Must be aged 18 at time of hire

• Must be currently enrolled in post-secondary school/program or a recent graduate (1-2 years)

Preferred:

• At least a 2.5 GPA
• Strong critical thinking and research skills
• Self-starter with ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment

Physical Demands:

Fellowship Environment:

• While performing the duties of this role, the fellow will primarily be in an office setting. The noise level in the fellowship environment is usually minimal.
