Position Summary:

The Electrical Controls Engineer will provide engineering techniques to design, develop, implement and maintain instrumentation or control systems. They are expected to develop and modify existing PLC and  HMI applications, interfaces, or embedded controls. In addition, they will troubleshoot and resolve malfunctions and make recommendations that will improve efficiency or quality of operations.

Essential Functions:

  • Plans, evaluates, organizes and implements automation related projects and initiatives.
  • Develop Electrical Standards and Specifications for equipment and installations.
  • Perform Equipment FATs, Machine Safety Circuit Analysis and Machine Risk Assessments
  • Leads Electrical Start-Ups and Commissioning of equipment installations and facility upgrades
  • Participate in design reviews to facilitate economical means of machine fabrication.
  • Develop electrical schematics and layouts in AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Develop Electrical Bill of Materials.
  • Troubleshoot issues with existing installations and make recommendations to improve operations.
  • Effectively document operating procedures.
  • Regular attendance per handbook policy.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, crouch, crawl, and kneel for extended periods of time.
  • The worker is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks.
  • Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
  • Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers, accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
  • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to eyes.
  • Able to lift 55 pounds occasionally, 25 - 50lbs. consistently.

Education:

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering Preferred

Experience:

  • 2 or more years of experience in industrial control systems.
  • Solid understanding of computer programming and software development
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Hands on experience with electrical systems.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be open to change and continuous improvement.
  • Design, installation, and programming of vision and/or motion control systems is a plus.
  • Project Management experience is a plus
