Works for the Operations Department but must also interface with the Engineering, Planning Departments and Production Departments to maintain efficiencies.

Basic Function: |
|
Responsible for ensuring proper and on time set up and operation of production equipment in assigned department(s) for self and other mechanics. Also responsible for safety, following G.M.P. procedures, routine maintenance, and training of lower classified mechanics.

Responsibilities:
- Employ strong interpersonal skills when interacting with others in the organization while promoting a positive environment.
- Responsible for having all machinery in a department in proper running condition, correctly located and properly adjusted for scheduled production.
- Must be capable of detecting wear, mal-adjustments and impending breakdowns of production machinery and equipment and of making rapid and effective repairs and replacements to maintain production and avoid downtime.
- Must have a broad, general familiarity with all production machinery equipment and facilities, methods of operations, adjustment and changeover procedures and application to specific jobs.
- May be required to work with factory representatives of machine suppliers in order to gain knowledge of new high-speed and automatic equipment as assigned.
- Must know and follow G.M.P. regulations concerning housekeeping, record keeping, cleaning and sanitation procedures, of all production or processing equipment involved in daily production lines.

Responsibilities continued:
- Assist in the training of employees of a lower classification for the purpose of increasing their skills. Also oversees the work of these employees as directed by immediate supervisor.
- Must be capable of performing major rebuilds.
- May be asked to assist Engineering in developing and/or coordinating formal training (written) documents and/or videotapes, for use in formalized training sessions on existing or new equipment.
- Responsible for following all safety regulations as well as ensuring mechanics of lower classification assigned to department are in compliance. Safety regulations include but are not limited to wearing goggles, safety glasses, face shields, welding helmets, wearing of proper clothing, equipment lock out procedures, etc.
- Responsible for ordering and maintaining appropriate inventory of equipment of parts and supplies for the maintenance department.
- Must be able to perform all responsibilities of Mechanic I, II, and III.
- Evaluate mechanic’s skillsets and recommend training needs and process improvement.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience of technical school training equivalent in a journeyman mechanic position.
- Knowledge of machinery and assembly line functions and operation of same.
- Capable of reading, interpreting and comprehending technical training manuals, blueprints and specifications.
- Display excellent mechanical ability, diagnosing, and troubleshooting skills.
- Capable of instructing mechanics and specialists in subordinate hourly positions.
- Exhibits exemplary attitude and safety records.
- Maintains an acceptable attendance record.
