Maintenance Supervisor - Aerofil

Position Summary:

Provide maintenance support for the repair and upgrading of building, equipment, systems, and processes. Contribute to the development, modification, and implementation of new and existing of new manufacturing processes. Implement and sustain continuous improvement. TPM activities, and SMED activities and will be responsible for assisting in OTL. Gemba Mechanic and Operator development.

Essential Functions:

  • Support all Value Stream Initiatives.
  • Plan, organize, direct, control maintenance and project work in Value Streams to supplement continuous and improvement activities.
  • Organize, lead, and direct Production Line Mechanics and Operation Team Leaders in the Value Streams. OTL and Production Line Mechanics will report directly to this position.
  • Schedule jobs to maintain production and plant equipment.
  • Work closely with Project Management team to coordinate manpower assistance when needed.
  • Assist other Value Streams and Project teams as necessary.
  • Supervise maintenance of equipment ensuring compliance with all applicable electrical, building codes, and OSHA regulations.
  • Provide good safety training subordinates.
  • Recognize and use product and process knowledge to do root cause analysis for defect free product.
  • Interview maintenance employee applicants as necessary.
  • Perform routine analysis of downtime data, work with Value Stream Manager, Supervisor, and maintenance personnel for continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate, coach, and lead TPM program and preventative maintenance program.
  • Fully understand the set-up, changeover, and operation of all production and process equipment for overall effectiveness.
  • Support daily production, while developing mechanics and operators in techniques to enhance troubleshooting skills to maximize effective operation of equipment and lines and assist in the necessary adjustments or machine repairs as needed.
  • Assist production in exploring new and better ways to maximize line speeds and increase uptime including new design, lay-outs, reduce or eliminate change-over time, yield reduction ideas, waste elimination, and other process improvements that nurture continuous improvement.
  • Monitor spare and change parts inventory for a designated production line, and assure proper availability of parts to maintain the lineup time.
  • Monitor visual control boards.
  • Communicate progress of team to immediate Value Stream Manager and supervisors.
  • Work with team members, mechanics, and OTL from all shifts to address issues common to each line (Communication between mechanics, operators, training needs, housekeeping issues, TPM, etc).
  • Responsible for performing OTL and Gemba mechanic performance evaluations by due date.
  • Effectively utilize and support the TPM blue tags from the blue tag boards in the value streams.
  • Regular attendance per handbook policy.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, crouch, crawl, and kneel for extended periods of time.
  • The worker is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks.
  • Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
  • Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers, accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
  • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to eyes.
  • Able to lift 55 pounds occasionally, 25 - 50lbs. consistently.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical training such as a trade school or engineering is required.

Experience:

  • Worked 5-10 years in maintenance.
  • 1-2 years of Supervisory experience, preferably in the maintenance field.
  • Experience reading blueprints and schematics are required.
  • Requires a broad working knowledge of various skilled trades including machinist, welder, electrician, and maintenance mechanic.
  • Extensive knowledge of various building and fire codes as well as the National Electric Code, OSHA, and EPA regulations.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Have a solid understanding of engineering terminology and concepts, mechanical systems, electric control systems and power distribution systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good analytical skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literate or able to train on programs needed to perform job.
  • This position requires a two (2) year commitment unless a new job bid is a promotion and/or a shift change, or based on business need.
