The Position:

The Controls Hardware Design Standards Specialist will provide self-service engineering solutions, design standards, and best practices to the Controls Hardware Design team. The incumbent will work to achieve reduced engineering complexities, improved design efficiencies, supports project milestone attainment and project profitability while delivering the Eclipse Vision and the Eclipse Entrepreneurial Culture.

 

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Leverage the full capabilities of EPLAN and other design assets – getting the most value from our software investment.
  • Leadership in providing improvements to product delivery across all North American Technology Centers
  • Collaborate with global Technology Centers to leverage and share methods and best practices.
  • Based on industry standards, recommend and implement common standards and tools where required.
  • Explore new, innovative technology and provide analysis and recommendations to Technology Center leaders.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of design standards and software utilization efficiencies.
  • Own the controls hardware design library, the validation process, and the auditing for design re-use.
  • Reduce non-value controls hardware design processes and systems for improved efficiencies within the Technology Centers
  • Incorporate technologies such as collaboration tools, remote access tools as required.
  • Represent Controls Hardware Design in ongoing digital thread and digital twinning initiatives.
  • Provide a view of technical trends and innovations affecting Company strategy.
  • Create training material for new standards and engineering tools
  • Oversee controls hardware engineering data migration and classification processes, ensuring data quality and effective collaboration with TC’s to develop strategies for governance and management

What We’re Looking For:

  • Successfully completed either a university degree or college diploma in Electrical, Systems, Mechatronics, or Robotics Automation Technology or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience of controls hardware design in the custom automation industry
  • Understanding of the automation / controls design process
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of EPLAN
  • Knowledge industry specific standards such as IEC, NFPA, UL and CSA
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Passion for driving continuous improvement and profitability.
  • Ability to facilitate cross-functional team meetings.
