Maintenance Engineer
The Maintenance Engineer supports planned preventative maintenance to prevent breakdown of factory equipment and machinery. Working with contractors and specialist equipment suppliers to ensure maximum capacity to reduce machine downtime and cycle times.
Our Role
• Perform routine scheduled preventative maintenance and unplanned/emergency repairs to ensure machines function as designed and downtime is minimized across shifts
• Assist with the installation of new equipment as required
• Respond with urgency to all breakdowns and diagnose breakdown problems
• Escalate machine breakdowns to appropriate managers if not resolved within agreed timescales
• Research and proposing suitable solutions in support of continuous improvement efforts to reduce cycle times and machine equipment breakdowns. Estimate cost and timescales as needed
• Arrange procurement of parts and components relating, but not limited to machines and equipment
• Work with specialist equipment and suppliers, to support company machines and equipment
• Liaise and work with contractors to carry out planned maintenance and breakdowns
• Record, analyze and interpret data for planned maintenance and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) measures from downtime records.
• Train operators and liaise with all departments, customers and other engineering and production functions, attend meetings on site as required
• Control maintenance tools, stores, and equipment maintaining general housekeeping and a safe working.
• Perform general facility maintenance work and other related duties as needed
What you will need to be successful..
• Qualified to ONC Mechanical Engineering supported by formal apprenticeship training
• Four (4) years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to read design specifications and technical drawings
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently required to executive non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
• This position requires working in confined spaces and working at height.
