Summary 

The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for supervising operations to ensure production is operating in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. Responsible for productions schedules and posting of daily work assignments based upon production needs and individual strengths. Must be shop floor orientated and provide “hands-on” product/process support for all reports on a daily basis. This individual will be the driver behind product/process safety, quality, delivery and morale. Accountable for continuous improvement of assigned department as well as training and development of direct reports.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and adjusts cycle times on all machines.
  • Assists Processor, Lead Processor, and Molding Supervisor in maintaining part quality on all machines.
  • Processes all types of defects.
  • Ensures color changes and mold changes are completed correctly. Creates new process setups for tools.
  • Operates control panel on machines, entering and changing data, as needed.
  • Docwnents process changes in black-book.
  • Reacts to lighting system (used when abnormal condition occurs at machine). Assists Molding Supervisor.
  • Checks SPC documents for out-of-control conditions and documents reactions. Relays automation problems to maintenance department.
  • Loads tool programs in robots on machine. Ends downtime with correct downtime code.
  • Schedules Production Technicians according to cell each day.
  • Approves and documents vacation time for Production Technicians, Relief Operators, Material Handlers, and Grinders.
  • Corrects disciplinary situations on shift and completes Employee Corrective Action/Consultation Form.
  • Assist in handling attendance issues. Issues and explains job reinstructions. Ensures regrind material is used properly.
  • Champion over specific scrap reduction team.
  • Ensures housekeeping responsibilities are performed each day.
  • Understands where recycling areas are located and uses these areas when possible. Responsible for maintaining ISO/TS16949: 2002 compliance within the manufacturing,
    material handling, material control, and purchasing disciplines.
  • Responsible for maintaining ISO14001: 2004 compliance within the manufacturing, material material control, and purchasing disciplines.
  • Responsible for maintaining OSHA compliance within the manufacturing, material handling, material purchasing disciplines.

  • High school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Computer Skills
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of G2 Shop Floor Data Collection Manufacturing software.
  • Fork Truck Certification
