The Position:

The PMO Industry Manager, will provide overall direction for a portfolio of projects with a defined sector focus of the Eclipse business The incumbent will act as a resource for Industry Project Managers to support the overall portfolio of projects to ensure positive customer relations and project execution to deliver solutions that uphold the Eclipse Vision and Entrepreneurial Culture. In consultation with Business Development and Applications Engineering, utilizes sector network to identify new business opportunities and supports the proposal development and negotiation process. The incumbent will work with the management team and plant personnel to deliver the Eclipse Vision and the Eclipse Entrepreneurial Culture on time and on budget.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Oversee and assist Industry Project Managers to deliver all projects on time and on budget
  • Regularly meet with Industry Project Managers to review overall project status and open issues identified through the escalation process while leading implementation of recovery plans as necessary
  • Engage with PM team members to align behavior with performance expectations, working alongside the PMO Manager to coach/mentor personnel and department development
  • Provide one on one coaching as well as facilitating group sessions for larger training opportunities
  • Facilitate and manage key initiatives within the PM group to support the attraction, retention, and development of employees
  • Foster a learning culture within the PM team by promoting continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and employee engagement in development opportunities
  • Verify recovery plans to ensure appropriate action has been taken by the Project Manager
  • Mitigate red flag situations on projects when escalated
  • Enforce Project Operating Policy
  • Assist in the completion of the Annual SRED write-ups for Tax submission
  • Provide support to Project Engineers and Designers in the development and completion of all technical deliverables, including direct involvement in design verification/validation process.
  • Monitor overall health of assigned portfolio, ensuring sustainable growth and profitability is achieved and maintained
  • Interfacing with key decision makers of customer, ensures a common understanding of ongoing project status and proactively addresses any quality, schedule, or cost concerns
  • Identifies new opportunities and assists in development and execution of capture plan.
  • Proactively recognize issues, initiate action, assist in problem solving and evaluate results on major issues
  • Complete Annual SRED write-ups for Tax submission
  • Verify any task requiring a recovery plan has been completed by verifying appropriate action has been taken by Project Manager and the project is back on track
  • Interfacing with key decision makers of customer, ensures a common understanding of ongoing project status and proactively addresses any quality, schedule, or cost concerns
  • Work closely with leadership team to plan project and engineering work to make sure resources are available to meet contract commitments and prioritize competing needs across project portfolio
  • Oversee the function of Project Management within the Industry vertical, with direct leadership over Project managers and Project Coordinators within the Industry
  • Regularly monitor PM performance against overall business goals to ensure consistent alignment
  • Under the direction of senior leadership, establish and implement short- and long-term departmental goals and objectives that support overall corporate objectives, monitoring regularly using KPIs to ensure they are being met

What We’re Looking For:

  • Has successfully completed a University Degree or College Diploma in Engineering / Robotics Automation Technology or University Degree or College Diploma in Project Management or equivalent experience
  • Preference will be given to candidates holding an Ontario P. Eng license is required
  • Formal project management training through PMI or equivalent, PMP is an asset.
  • 5+ years as a Project Manager in the field of automation or specialized equipment and tooling directly related to the sector
  • 10+ years sector specific experience in a technical leadership capacity, with demonstrated success in large, high-profile projects
  • Proven leadership skills, providing direct employee oversight and coaching
